Thank God for year-end vacation time. Or thank the boss. Whatever! I'm just thankful.
It's the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010. Did this year just race by anybody else? This was the quickest year on record!
What's to come in your 2010?
I would love to gradually leave the Internet. Not because it isn't fun or pleasurable, but because it is insignificant. It is inefficient. There's a job to do and, while it (the Internet) makes that job, at times, easier, it mostly just distracts. Can I do without? Well, the reason I haven't looked to moving out of my current digs is that I have Verizon FiOS high-speed Internet. I've convinced myself that I'm going to hate leaving it behind when I get out to the country and have to settle for satellite or even no Internet connection.
Fortunately, I've been drawing closer to God lately and He has assured me that I'll be just fine without it. I suspect He's right. With fewer distractions (read: without the Internet at home) I can focus on my mission(s) and God-given ministry(ies).
I think it would benefit us all to stop connecting globally anymore. Isn't there enough activity and pleasure to be found in the local vicinity? Of course! We are social creatures, are we not? That face-to-face time-- no, I should say, that flesh-to-flesh time (because we can be "face-to-face" with our web cams)-- is so much more gratifying than any pixel-to-pixel time. Or maybe that's just my opinion. But I'm also a tactile person. I love to touch. I love to shake your hand or give you a hug.
Of course, in today's world, in these end of days, we must keep our finger on the pulse of national events. I don't want my government treading too much further onto my freedoms, and if I'm oblivious to their movements I will be susceptible to their continued chipping away at my rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I want to explore this further in another post.
Anyway, the kids are about to be gone and I'm about to be an empty-nester. There's going to be a lot of freed up free time for me. It won't do to be sitting on my behind at a computer all day/night clickety-clacking away on a keyboard. That is tactile, though. :-) I'll have a ranch that needs tending! Those are hard work and leave little time for cyberspace activities. I don't care. I look forward to the physical labor.
What I don't look forward to is the increasing taxes my government is consistently thrusting upon me without my consent. Where are my representatives anymore in government?! They all serve corporate interests or the rich elite these days. Obama's friends have made millions (if not billions) from these so-called bail-outs but accurately-called "robberies of the American people." And the sheeple bah and ba contentedly like lambs to the slaughter.
That's also a subject for another post.
Have a great Christmas everybody, and a safe and prosperous New Year!
